Love Handles Exercise
How would you like to not only lose those love handles, but also reveal the muscles hiding beneath them? As you probably know if you’ve been seeking answers for any length of time is that there is plenty of information about weight loss, fat loss, diets, exercise, body building and everything in between.
The problem is that much of the information is erroneous or at the very least confusing.
Why do I say Confusing?
Because even some of the so called “expert” opinions seem to be diametrically opposed! Wouldn’t you agree?
First of all, what are love handles?
“Love handles” is an affectionate name given to the layer of fat around the midsection of an overweight person, especially visible on the sides (over the oblique muscles).
When I was much younger I remember people saying that if you can pinch an inch anywhere on your body, than you are overweight. At the time it wasn’t a big deal. I was in my late teens and quite frankly, I couldn’t pinch an inch anywhere on my body.
At that age, we are all probably more active and our metabolisms burn fat at a much faster rate.
However, as we age our lifestyles become more sedentary, our metabolisms slow down and fat begins to accumulate in places it may not have existed before… or if it did, it was in much smaller quantities.
Is exercise the answer?
Well yes and no. Exercise can and will speed up metabolism, but it is not the only thing to consider. After all, what is fat and is the “lack of exercise” totally responsible for it? Of course not.
Our bodies are sort of like a mathematical equation. I like to use the analogy of a bank account.
When you open a bank account you are required to make a deposit and over the course of time you will have made both deposits and withdrawals.
In order to have a “fat” bank account you would have to put much more in than you took out.
The same applies to our bodies. We become “fat” when we deposit much more than we take out.
When we eat, we are making deposits. When we exercise we are making withdrawals.
The truth is we burn calories long after we finish our workout. Even sitting still on the couch watching television we are spending “some” calories.
And the more muscle you have the more calories you burn.
What if you had to spend as much time exercising as you did eating each day?
Do you think you’d be fat?
I doubt it.
If you came to this site expecting to ascertain “THE” love handles exercise, the truth is… there isn’t one… or perhaps I should say there are many.
Your love handles are the place your body has stored excess calories and any exercise that burns calories (fat) is a “love handles exercise.”
The best way to lose your love handles is to lose fat.
And you can do that by:
* becoming more active
* and exercising more often
(every exercise session is like a withdrawal from your account)
* eating more intelligently
Please note that I did NOT say eating “less.” Our bodies are marvelous machines that are designed to help us survive and if it perceives deprivation it will automatically protect us by preserving our fat stores.
That’s why low calorie diets never work!
